Who doesn’t love free things?! If you are interested in adding some native plants to your home or learning how to keep chooks, read on!

  1. Free Plants

Every financial year, if you pay Council rates, you are eligible for FREE native plants. Logan, Ipswich and Brisbane Councils offer this program. Council offers a variety of native plants to suit Brisbane soils and subtropical climate that also support our special wildlife. You can choose a variety of plants from groundcovers, tufting plants, climbers, small and medium shrubs and feature trees with many species being available all year round.

  1. Free Workshops

Learn how to keep chickens, create edible gardens, ferment food and more at the free Brisbane City Council workshops.

Brisbane City Council offers a range of events and activities to help you learn to live more sustainably. These are held at Council libraries, environment centres and other natural areas and include a range of free or low-cost classes and workshops on gardening, composting, worm farming and more.

There are a number of concessions and rebates available to Australian residents. From electricity concessions for Seniors, no interest loans for solar and battery installations and heaps more. You’ll have to do a bit of digging around to see if there is anything that might benefit you.   1. Free Portrait of the Queen

Citizens can send a request to their federal member of parliament for their free portrait of Britain's Queen Elizabeth II. Who knew?!

The "constituents' request program" allows Aussie voters who are eligible to receive "nationhood material", for example, Aussie flags, recordings of the National Anthem, as well as a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II.
